Welcome to the Banana Leaf Indian Restaurant Adelaide
The Banana Leaf Indian Restaurant is one of the few South Indian Restaurants in Adelaide. We are located at 42 Currie Street. (Yeah, we are curry on Currie...) We are just opposite the DIMIA building.
The name "Banana Leaf" itself is very 'South Indian'. Traditionally, South Indians serve food for their guests on banana leaves. The logic behind doing so is to show respect to the guests and make them feel at home. Banana leaves are also auspicious for the South Indians as it forms part of the "tri-fruits", namely the banana, mango and jackfruit. The "tri-fruits" are the "must have fruits" in any offerings to the God and in prayers.
We have named our restaurant as "Banana Leaf Indian Restaurant" so as to make our guest feel at home and respected. We also want to embrace the auspiciousness of the name as well as to create a South Indian feel.
In our restaurant, we serve predominantly 'South Indian Food. We also serve a few North Indian, Singaporean and Malaysian food.
